==Early life==
He was born in [[Mansa, Punjab]] to the Punjabi Jat Sikh family. He spent his early years in his hometown, Mansa, and later moved to Patiala. For pursuing further studies as a mechanical engineer, he took admission at government polytechnic Batala (1994 - 1997) batch. Chahal received offers for modelling and Punjabi music industry, which offered him a chance to work in music videos of leading singers. He also had worked in the Punjab Police.

==Career==
Chahal won the title of Mr. Punjab in 2000. His first music video, "Jattan de putt saadh ho gaye" was a success, after which he appeared in many music videos. In 2005, he shifted to Mumbai where he grabbed a role in the successful daily soap ''[[Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi]]'', produced by [[Balaji Telefilms]], but later, he left the show to act in the [[Punjabi cinema|Punjabi]] film ''[[Yaaran Naal Baharan]]''.
