The &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Gulf of Khambhat&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, historically known as the &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Gulf of Cambay&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;, is a bay on the [[Arabian Sea]] coast of [[India]], bordering the state of [[Gujarat]] just north of the city of [[Mumbai]].&amp;lt;ref name=EB1911&amp;gt;{{cite EB1911|wstitle=Cambay, Gulf of}}&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; The Gulf of Khambhat is about {{convert|200|km|mi|abbr=on}} long, about {{convert|20|km|mi|abbr=on}} wide in the north and up to {{convert|70|km|mi|abbr=on}} wide in the south. Major rivers draining Gujarat are the [[Narmada River|Narmada]], [[Tapti River|Tapti]], [[Mahi River|Mahi]] and [[Sabarmati River|Sabarmati]] that form [[estuaries]] in the gulf.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;Saha, S., Banerjee, S., Burley, S.D., Ghosh, A. and Saraswati, P.K.
