In the [[2006 West Bengal state assembly election|2006 state assembly elections]]<ref name=vidhansabha2006/> Bharati Mukherjee of [[Communist Party of India (Marxist)|CPI(M)]] won the Haripal seat defeating Safiul Islam Sarkar of [[All India Trinamool Congress|Trinamool Congress]]. Contests in most years were multi cornered but only winners and runners are being mentioned.
