The '''Harischandra Range''' is a [[Spur (topography)|spur]] of the [[Western Ghats]] in [[Maharashtra]], [[India]]. It runs in a northwest to southeast direction stretching from northeast of [[Pune district]] through [[Ahmednagar district|Ahmednagar]] and [[Beed district|Beed]] to [[Osmanabad district]].<ref>{{cite book|last=Hussain|first=Majid|title=Geography of India|year=2011|publisher=Tata McGraw Hill|location=New Delhi|pages=2.9}}</ref> It lies between the [[Godavari]] and the [[Bhima River|Bhima]] rivers<ref name="StudentsBritannica2000">{{cite book|title=Students' Britannica India Volume 2|year=2000|publisher=Encyclopædia Britannica|location=New Delhi|pages=249}}</ref> and acts as a water divide between the Godavari and [[Krishna River]] basins.<ref name="Hussain2009">{{cite book|last=Hussain|first=Majid|title=Understanding Map Entries|year=2009|publisher=Tata McGraw Hill|location=New Delhi|pages=II H.2}}</ref> These are low-lying hills with an average elevation of only {{convert|600|m|ft|-1}} and they gain in elevation towards the northwest. Geologically, these hills are similar to the [[Deccan Plateau]] and are composed of [[Basaltic flood|basaltic lava]] deposits.<ref name="StudentsBritannica2000" /> The range derives its name from the [[Harishchandragad|Harischandragarh]] peak, a popular trekking spot and the highest peak of the range.
