The Hazaribagh wildlife sanctuary was established in 1955. It was a private hunting reserve of kings of [[Ramgarh Raj|Ramgarh]]. Rajderwa was private hunting lodge of kings which includes a enclosure of [[wild boar]], [[barking deer]] and [[nilgai]]. Nestling in low hilly terrain, at an average altitude of {{Convert|615|m|ft}}, it has an area of {{Convert|184|km2|mi2|abbr=on}} and consists of mixed deciduous forest with [[sal tree]]s.
