== History ==
The Hazaribagh wildlife sanctuary was established in 1955. It was a private hunting reserve of kings of [[Ramgarh Raj|Ramgarh]]. Rajderwa was private hunting lodge of kings which includes a enclosure of [[wild boar]], [[barking deer]] and [[nilgai]]. ==Wildlife==
Nestling in low hilly terrain, at an average altitude of {{Convert|615|m|ft}}, it has an area of {{Convert|184|km2|mi2|abbr=on}} and consists of mixed deciduous forest with [[sal tree]]s. Earlier it was home to [[wolf]], [[leopards]] and [[tigers]] but due to deforestation and hunting, many wild animals have been wiped out from the sanctuary.<ref name="IndianExpress2023"/><ref name="Ramchandani2000"/> In January 2024, a tiger was videographed by the villagers in the sanctuary.
