Yadav was born to small farmer Ramlal Yadav in [[Durg]]. He married to Leela Yadav in 9 March 1976 and they have four children, two sons and two daughter.<br />
In 1987, he became active in politics.<br />

Yadav was first elected to [[Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly]] in 1998 from [[Durg City (Vidhan Sabha constituency)|Durg Constituency]] by defeating his congress rival [[Arun Vora]] by a margin of 3,279.
