It is a [[diesel-electric submarine|diesel-electric]] [[attack submarine]] based on the {{sclass2|Scorpène|submarine|4}}, designed by French naval defence and energy group [[DCNS (company)|DCNS]] and manufactured by [[Mazagon Dock Limited]], an Indian shipyard in [[Mumbai]].
