The  &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Board of Commissioners for the Affairs of India&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; (commonly known as the &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;India Board&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039; or the &amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;Board of Control&amp;#039;&amp;#039;&amp;#039;) was an arm of the [[Government of the United Kingdom]] responsible for managing the government&amp;#039;s interest in [[British India]] and the [[East India Company]] between 1784 and 1858.&amp;lt;ref name=foster&amp;gt;{{cite journal|last=Foster|first=William|title=The India Board (1784–1858)|journal=Transactions of the Royal Historical Society|year=1917|volume=11|series=3rd ser.|pages=61–85|doi=10.2307/3678436|url=https://zenodo.org/record/1449773/files/article.pdf}}&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; By virtue of the [[East India Company Act 1784]], [[Privy Council of Great Britain|Privy Counsellors]], not exceeding six in number, were appointed by commission issued under the [[Great Seal of Great Britain]] to be &amp;quot;Commissioners for the Affairs of India&amp;quot;. The commissioners were to include a Secretary of State and the [[Chancellor of the Exchequer]]. At least three of the commissioners were to form the board, which exercised powers under the act.&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;East India Company Act 1784.&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; The board was supported by the [[Secretary to the Board of Control]].&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
It was abolished by the [[Government of India Act 1858]]&amp;lt;ref&amp;gt;Government of India Act, 1858, section LXI.&amp;lt;/ref&amp;gt; and replaced by the [[India Office]].&lt;br /&gt;
