Decades and decades back when Indian Army wanted to start its Army troop in The Nilgiris District they choose Jagathala village and the nearby spot as the ideal location. Freedom fighters from Jagathala village gave away acres of land to Indian Army in a perpetual lease agreement with zero cost involved. Now, MRC is the oldest regiment in India and Jagathala villagers are proud that their own village has played a minor role by helping the Indian Army. A number of villagers have also joined Indian Army to protect the nation.<br />
