==Biography ==
Jitender Singh Shunty founded the Shaheed Bhagat Singh Seva Dal in 1996.<ref name=":1" /> He started his career in politics as an independent councillor from Jhilmil ward in Delhi. However, he became a part of the [[Bharatiya Janata Party|BJP]] in 2008 and contested for the councillor elections from Jhilmil ward of the East municipal corporation and won the elections.<ref name=":2">{{Cite web|url=https://indianexpress.com/article/cities/delhi/shunty-had-sought-police-security-a-year-ago-installed-cctv-cameras-at-home/|title=Shunty had sought police security a year ago, installed CCTV cameras at home|date=4 September 2014|website=The Indian Express|access-date=22 June 2019}}</ref> He contested his first Delhi Assembly election in 2013,<ref name=":0" /> and won from the [[Shahdara (Delhi Assembly constituency)|Shahdara]] constituency with 45,364 votes.<ref name=":2" />

In September 2014, an unidentified gunman shot at him but missed.
