'Jyoti' means the light or enlightenment in this context. 'Sar' means the core. Hence, 'Jyotisar' means 'core meaning of light' or 'ultimately of God' i.e. the 'essence of enlightenment'. It is one of the most revered holy sites of the holy city of [[Kurukshetra]]. A ''Vat'' ([[Banyan tree]]) stands on a raised [[plinth]].
