==Career==
Lohani got his first job as a journalist in the [[Millat|Daily Millat]] in 1955.<ref name=song>{{cite news|url=http://www.thedailystar.net/star-weekend/spotlight/the-song-the-sea-99115|title=The Song of the Sea|author=Ananta Yusuf|work=The Daily Star|date=June 19, 2015|access-date=June 26, 2022}}</ref> He joined as a secretary at [[Chhayanaut]], a cultural organization, in 1962. He formed a left cultural organization – ''Kranti'' in 1967.<ref name=song/>

In 1960, Lohani married Syeda Dipti Rani (d. 2007). She was his fellow political party member.<ref name=song/> Together they had two daughters and a son.<ref name=song/>
