It is a part of the [[Shekhawati]] region. Khetri consists of two towns, &amp;quot;Khetri Town,&amp;quot; founded by Raja Bhopal Singh Ji, and &amp;quot;Khetri Nagar,&amp;quot; which is about 10&amp;amp;nbsp;km away from Khetri.&lt;br /&gt;

Khetri was founded by Raja Bhopal Singh as a [[Shekhawati#Thikanas of Shekhawati|thikana]] of [[Shekhawati#Shekhawat rule|Shekhawat rajput ruler]] of [[Shekhawati]]. Raja [[Ajit Singh of Khetri|Ajit Singh Bahadur]] (16 October 1861 – 18 January 1901) was the ruler of the Shekhawat estate (thikana) of Khetri.&lt;br /&gt;

Khetri mines are owned by Hindustan Copper Ltd. This mine was started over 2000 years ago. Khetri copper complex mines Rajasthan India. The region is highly contaminated by copper with higher values in the soil near overburden material and tailings.&lt;br /&gt;
