The school was established in 1934 which makes it one of the most ancient schools of [[Tripura]]. Earlier it was an [[all-boys school]] and was known as '''Khowai Government Boys' High School'''.It was then located near old Harimandir-Town hall area. It became a coeducational school allowing class IX and X girl students as there was no girls' high school that time in Khowai town. In the sixties it was renamed as Khowai Govt Boys Higher Secondary School after introduction of class XI courses [ and later class XII]as per pattern of West Bengal Board Of secondary Education . With the extension of the town in the subhas park and jambura - hatimara tilla area according to the Khowai town development plan it was shifted to a newly constructed spacious building near subhas park. In 1998 it became a [[co-educational]] school as it started to allow girls admission into 11th or 12th standard. The school played an important role in the education scenario of [[Khowai]] subdivision for many years.<br />

It has more than 677 students and 34 teaching staffs. Up to 10th standard it is an [[all-boys school]] but girls can get admitted to study science at [[higher secondary]] level. It has a play ground and a pond inside its territory. Classes start from 11 a.m. everyday excluding Sunday and ends at 4 p.m.<br />
