For the ''kudamattom'', thirty elephants are split into two groups of fifteen representing the Thamarakulam Sri Mahaganapathy Temple and the Puthiyakavu Bhagawathy Temple. The ''kudamattom'' is held to the beats of a traditional ''melam''.
