'''Kumuram Bheem district''' is a [[district]] in the [[Indian state]] of [[Telangana]]. It was earlier part of [[Adilabad district]] and it became a new district in 2016.<ref name="district"/>.The district share boundaries with [[Adilabad district|Adilabad]], [[Nirmal district|Nirmal]], [[Mancherial district|Mancherial]] districts and with the state boundary of [[Maharashtra]].

== History ==
Earlier Kumuram Bheem district was just known as Asifabad district. It was ruled by many dynasties like the [[Kakatiyas]], [[Mauryas]], [[Satavahanas]], [[Chalukyas]], [[Qutub Shahis]] & [[Asaf Jahis]]. In 1905, it was carved as a district but was later merged into the [[Adilabad district]]. In 1913, it was made as headquarters of the district prior to the status being lost to Adilabad in 1941. == Geography ==
The district is spread over an area of {{convert|4300|km2|sqmi}}.<ref name="newdist">{{cite news|title=New districts|url=http://www.andhrajyothy.com/artical?SID=320397|access-date=8 October 2016|work=Andhra Jyothy.com|date=8 October 2016}}</ref> Hills dominate the western part of the district and [[Pranhita]] river runs parallel to the east.

It is home to endangered species of [[vultures]] which have made Palarapu rocks their home in the forests of [[Bejjur]]. The [[Sirpur (T)|Sirpur]] forest is also home to [[tigers]] and other wild animals. Cotton and Paddy are the major crops grown in this area.
