Tripathi is from Daltonganj, Palamu district. == Career ==
Tripathi first won as an MLA in the [[2009 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly election]] from [[Daltonganj Assembly constituency]] representing [[Indian National Congress]]. He polled 43.571 votes and defeated his nearest rival, Dileep Singh Namdhari, of [[Bharatiya Janata Party]] by a margin of 4,233 votes. He contested in the [[2019 Jharkhand Legislative Assembly election]] representing [[Indian National Congress]] but lost to [[Alok Kumar Chaurasiya]].<ref>{{Cite web |last=Live |first=A. B.
