It connects Lahaul valley and Spiti valley. It is on the route from Gramphoo in Lahaul to [[Kaza, Himachal Pradesh|Kaza]] the subdivisional headquarters of Spiti. Kunzum Pass is {{convert|122|km|abbr=on}} from [[Manali, Himachal Pradesh|Manali]], and {{convert|79|km|abbr=on}} from Kaza.
