The Kuppam River originates in the [[Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary]] of [[Kodagu district]], near the Kerala-Karnataka border. From its source it flows west through [[Taliparamba taluk|Taliparamba]] and [[Kannur taluk]]s, passing Therandy, [[Cheriyoor]], Pachheni, Iringal, [[Taliparamba West|Kuppam]], Pattuvam, Payangadi, and [[Matool]]. It flows into the [[Laccadive Sea|Lakshadweep Sea]] just north of [[Azhikode and Azhikkal|Azhikkal]], after meeting the [[Valapattanam River]]. The river is about {{convert|82|km|mi}} long, but it is only navigable for {{convert|24|km|mi}}. The Kuppam flows for {{convert|12|km|mi}} in Karnataka, and for {{convert|70|km|mi}} in Kerala. The river's largest tributary, which joins the Kuppam southwest of [[Pattuvam]], is the Kuttikol river, which is {{convert|42|km|mi}} long.
