The Kurumali River has its origin on the slopes of the [[Western Ghats]] in the [[Chimmony Wildlife Sanctuary]] of the [[Thrissur district]]. The [[Chimmony dam]] is built across the Kurumali River. The [[Mupliyam|Muply River]] joins the Kurumali river in Karikulam.
