== Aim ==
The construction of the Sanamahi Kiyong temple aims at the establishment of a university of [[Sanamahi religion]] on the [[Nongmaiching mountain]].
It was built according to a 2002 resolution adopted at a public meeting having a goal to construct a university for [[Sanamahism]],<ref name=":momentum">{{Cite web |title=Work on Sanamahi Kiyong gaining momentum: 23rd mar12 ~ E-Pao! The Sanamahi Kiyong is {{Convert|75|ft|meter}} tall. It has 7 [[Storey|stories]], that represent the seven clans ({{lang-mni|[[Yek|Salai]]}}) of the [[Meitei people]]. The 7 [[Storey|stories]] are painted in the colours of the 7 Meitei clans.<ref name=":momentum" />

== Construction ==
The construction of the Sanamahi Kiyong started in the year 2006. It was done through the donated funds raised from the public.<ref name=":momentum" /><ref name=":Donation" /><ref name=":Kiyong" />
As of March 2012, the construction cost reached {{INR Convert|2|c|year=2012}} and the then estimation of net cost was around {{INR Convert|3|c|year=2012}}.<ref name=":momentum" />

== Inauguration ==
The Sanamahi Kiyong was previously planned to be inaugurated on 16 May 2019. But it was postponed to 8 June 2019 because religious leaders advised that it should be done on [[Meitei calendar|Meitei month]] of Enga ({{lang-mni|ꯏꯉꯥ|ī-ngā}}) and not on the month of Kalen ({{lang-mni|ꯀꯥꯂꯦꯟ|kā-len}}) and 8 June falls on Enga, the favourable month.<ref name=":inaugurated">{{Cite web |title=Sanamahi Kiyong to be inaugurated on June 8: 12th may19 ~ E-Pao!
