== Political career ==
Lakhan Lal Dewangan was first elected as Mayor of [[Korba, Chhattisgarh|Korba Municipal Corporation]] in 2005.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.korbamunicipal.in/mck/MayorList.aspx|title = Mayor List | Korba Municipal}}</ref> On 8 December 2013, Dewangan became [[Member of Legislative Assembly|Member]] of [[Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly]] from [[Katghora (Vidhan Sabha constituency)|Katghora Constituency]] by defeating Bodhram Kanwar of [[Indian National Congress]], a six term MLA from same seat by 13,130 votes.<ref>{{Cite web|url=http://www.elections.in/chhattisgarh/assembly-constituencies/2013-election-results.html|title=Chhattisgarh Assembly (Vidhan Sabha) Election 2013 - results, polling stats, winners and more}}</ref> and became [[Parliamentary secretary]] ([[Minister of State]] rank) for Food, Civil Supply, Consumer Protection, Village Industry, Planning, Economic and Statistics in [[Raman Singh Third ministry]].
