'''Mukunda Chandra Chakrabarti''' (31 January 1915 – 22 June 1972) was an Indian statistician. He was the founding head of the department of statistics at the [[University of Mumbai]] from 1948 until he died in 1972.<ref>{{cite book|url= https://books.google.com/books?id=xkoMtO8d6zIC&pg=PP9|title= Dedicated to MC Chakrabarti, Book (Papers) – Statistical Inference and Design of Experiments | first1=Ulhas J. | last1=Dixit | first2=Meena R. | last2=Satam | isbn=978-81-7319-281-4 | year=1999 | publisher=Narosa Publishing House}}</ref> The department of mathematics at University of Mumbai was established later in 1963 under the guidance of Professor [[S. S. Shrikhande]].

Chakrabarti was known for his work in [[design of experiments]]. He guided a number of students for their Ph.D.s in statistics at the University of Mumbai.
