The main attraction of the temple is the idol of the goddess Jaleshwari, a form of Shakti who originated from Jal, the water of the nearby river. According to devotees, the idol of Jaleshwari increases in height slightly every year. It is believed that the village of Bhawanpura is safe from the anger of [[Kosi River|Kosi]] because of the blessings of Maa Jaleshwari. She blesses prosperity and happiness in the life of her devotees with a pure soul.<br />
