In 1913, the Hooghly–Katwa Railway constructed a {{Track gauge|5ft6in|lk=on}} [[broad gauge]] line from [[Bandel Junction railway station|Bandel]] to [[Katwa Junction railway station|Katwa]], and the Barharwa–Azimganj–Katwa Railway constructed the {{Track gauge|5ft6in|lk=on}} [[broad gauge]] [[Barharwa–Azimganj–Katwa loop]].&amp;lt;ref name=timeline&amp;gt;{{cite web| url = http://irse.bravehost.com/IRHTML.htm| title = Indian Railway History timeline|first=R.
