=== Basabitta village ===
In January 2020, during a visit to the Basabitta village in the [[Dhauraiya (Vidhan Sabha constituency)|Dhauraiya constituency]], villagers laid down a [[gherao]] (encirclement) around Manish Kumar's convoy to protest the lack of basic facilities in the village. The villagers were airing grievances that work which began 10 years ago have remained incomplete and accused the legislator of only remembering his constituents before elections. === Rickshaw driver abuse ===
In September 2020, a image of Manish Kumar forcing a [[rickshaw]] driver to perform [[Sit-ups (punishment)|sit-ups as punishment]] went viral on social media. The image caused outrage against the legislator with accusations of [[abuse of power]].
