She was the niece of [[Bir Chandra Manikya|Maharaja]]'s first wife, Queen [[Ningthem Chanu Bhanumati]]. She became a royal photographer under the tutelage of her husband and she organized photography exhibitions in the palace where both of their photographs were exhibited.
