Meena Dhanda arrived in the UK from Punjab, India in 1987 with an award of the [[Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan|Commonwealth Scholarship]] for her doctoral work in Philosophy at [[Balliol College, Oxford|Balliol College]], [[University of Oxford|Oxford University]].
