Chambal Expressway also known as Atal Progress-way is a proposed six-lane expressway in the states of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh & Uttar Pradesh. The proposed expressway will connect the historic town of Kota in Rajasthan to Etawah in Uttar Pradesh alongside the Chambal River. The project will cover the towns of Sheopur, Morena, Shampur, Ater and Gohad.[1] The proposed expressway measures 404 km.[2] [3][4][5]
Status Updates
- Dec 2018: Detailed Project Report (DPR) to be ready by December 2021.[6]
- May 2020: Chambal Expressway project to be revived again.[7]
- Jul 2020: The proposed expressway will cost ₹ 8,250 crore and will measure 404 km.[8] Detailed Project Report (DPR) to be prepared soon.[9]
- Aug 2020: Centre sanctions ₹ 800 crores for the project.[10]
- Mar 2021: National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has awarded task for DPR preparation. DPR to be ready before end of 2021.[11]
- Aug 2021: The project has been included in Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-1.[12]
