Ananta Samhita

Template:Unreferenced stub Template:Hindu scriptures In Hinduism, the Ananta Samhita is a scripture, known to be a part of Pancaratra agama. It is popular among Gaudiya Vaisnavas, and is believed to be authoritative scripture like the "Narada Pancaratra" and Brahma Samhita, among Gaudiya Vaisnavas.

Recently, a claim was made by some, that it's a recently created scripture, authored by one Ananta Vasudeva, a disciple of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, founder of the Gaudiya Math. (Please see https://gosai.com/writings/greater-than-the-upanisads-and-the-vedas for further details)

However, this work is quoted by Bhaktivinoda Thakura (who preceed Ananta Vasudeva by two generations) in his Sri Navadvipa Mahatmya, ch. 2, and Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur, the guru of Ananta Vasudeva, in his commentary to Chaitanya Bhagavata 1.1.46. It's also quoted by Ishana Nagara, the household servant of Sacimata, in Advaita Prakasha, ch. 4 and 10. The book, Advaita Prakash is atleast 5 centuries old, and its manuscripts are well preserved across libraries of Bengal, such as Asiatic Society, Bangiya Sahitya Parishat. Thus, this proves the book's authenticity. It's also noteworthy that its also catalouged under the Pancaratra Texts by BAPS. The text has been recently published by Gaudiya Scriptures, after critical examination of Manuscripts preserved at Bangiya Sahitya Parishay and others.
