Template:2025 Indian Premier League Teams
The 2025 season was the 4th season for the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket franchise Lucknow Super Giants. They were one of the ten teams that competed in the 2025 IPL. Ahead of the season, Rishabh Pant was appointed as the captain. The team was coached by Justin Langer.
Lucknow Super Giants were the fifth team to be eliminated from the 2025 IPL and finished the season in seventh place with six wins from 14 matches. Mitchell Marsh scored the most runs (627) while Digvesh Rathi took the most wickets (14) for Lucknow in the 2025 season.
Pre-season
Template:Further The 2025 Indian Premier League was the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), a professional Twenty20 (T20) cricket league, organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).[1] Lucknow Super Giants were one of the four active franchises to not have won the IPL title prior to 2025.[2] The team finished in seventh place in the previous season.[3] The tournament featured ten teams competing in 74 matches from 22 March to 3 June 2025.[4][5] Lucknow played all their home matches at Ekana Cricket Stadium.[6]
Player retention
Franchises were allowed to retain a maximum of six players from their squad, including a maximum of five recent international players.[7] Franchises were required to submit their retention lists before 31 October 2024.[8] Lucknow retained five players, but did not retain their prior captain KL Rahul.[9][10]

Auction
The season's auction took place on 24 and 25 November 2024 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.[12] The auction purse for each franchise was set at Template:INRConvert, with the franchises being deducted an amount from the purse for each retained player.[13][14] Lucknow had a purse remaining of Template:INR convert.[15] Franchises that did not retain six players, were allowed Right-to-Match (RTM) cards at the auction for each player not retained.[16] Lucknow had one card available.[17] Lucknow bought nineteen players in the auction, including nine capped players and six overseas players.[18] Lucknow used their RTM card to buy back Shamar Joseph for Template:INRconvert.[19]
