Amrutham (Template:Lit) was an Indian Telugu-language sitcom television series created by Gangaraju Gunnam.[1] The story revolved around a fictional restaurant in Hyderabad named Amrutha Vilas and its owners who find themselves in hilarious situations with their money making schemes. The show originally aired on Gemini TV from 2001 to 2007 with 313 episodes.[2][3]

A spin-off film titled Amrutham Chandamamalo was released in 2014.[4] Its sequel, Amrutham Dhvitheeyam began streaming on ZEE5 after 13 years from March 2020.[5]

Cast and characters

Proprietor of "Amrutha Vilas," which he started with his childhood friend Anjaneyulu. His full name is Icchapurapu Ksheera Sagara Panchamrutha Rao. He is skeptical, inquisitive and an atheist. He used to work in Bow-Bow Biscuits. [6]
An expert chef, Amrutham's best friend and a man full of ideas. Often comes up with quirky plans to boost their business which often end up failing.[6]
Servant of Amrutha Vilas who is a migrant from Tamil Nadu.[6]
Exploitative landlord who subjects his tenants to unreasonable penalties. He wears colourful shirts and an ancestral gold belt from where he derives all his miser.[6]
Amrutham's wife. Gulliable-yet-ambitious women.[6]

Anji's wife and working women, who help's husbands business occasionally.[6]
Amrutha Rao's boss. He used to scold Amrutham for any reason. The manager of Bow-Bow Biscuits in earlier episodes.

Production

As many as eleven debutant directors worked for series, most notable being Chandra Sekhar Yeleti. Most of the episodes were written by Gangaraju Gunnam along with Vasu Inturi.[7]
