Arpita Mukherjee is an Indian model-cum-actress who worked in the Bengali and Odia film industries between 2008 and 2014.

Early life

Mukherjee was born on 10 June 1983 in Belgharia, West Bengal into a middle-class family Minati Mukherjee. Her mother is a homemaker and her father was a central government employee. She attended the Ramakrishna Sarada Mission Sister Nivedita Girls School, Kolkata and went to the Scottish Church College, Kolkata. Following the death of her father, she was given a position in his office. She was married to a businessman from Jhargram, but she abandoned him to pursue a profession in Kolkata. She began modelling for the Naktala Udayan Sangha's puja committee and eventually became its brand ambassador.

Career

Mukherjee began her modelling career in 2004 and was offered movie roles while working on her modelling career. She opened three nail salons in Patuli, on Lake View Road, and in Baranagar throughout the years. She has appeared in six Odia films, including Suvendu Swain's Bande Utkala Janani and Ashok Pati's Prem Rogi, both of which were box office successes. She also appeared in Kemiti a Bandhana, co-starring Chandrachur Singh, and Mu Kana Ete Kharap, co-starring Anubhav Mohanty. Her most recent Odia film was 2012's Raju Awara.

Mukherjee also appeared in Bengali films such as Bhoot in Roseville, Jeena the Endless Love, Bidehir Khonje Rabindranath, Mama Bhagne, and Partner.

Controversy

In July 2022, Mukherjee was arrested from her residence by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with the state-level School Service Commission (SSC) scam case along with her aide Partha Chatterjee and is currently in the custody of the Enforcement Directorate.[1] Till July 28, 2022, ED has recovered ₹49.8 Crores cash, gold worth ₹5 Crores and coded diaries from her premises.[2]
