Bobbili Puli (Template:Translation) is a 1982 Indian Telugu-language action film written and directed by Dasari Narayana Rao. The film stars N. T. Rama Rao and Sridevi, with music composed by J. V. Raghavulu. The film was a big hit, collecting 3.5 Crore in its theatrical run. It was remade in Hindi as Zakhmi Sher (1984).[1]
Plot
The film begins with lionhearted soldier Major Chakradhar leading a happy life with his mother Annapurna, sister Jayanti, and fiance Advocate Vijaya. Just before their wedding, the Indian army declares an emergency. So, Chakradhar pauses and moves to the battlefield. Acharya Shankaraiah is involved in treasonous activities under the garb of Sage by keeping officials under his clutch. Once Annapurna visits Shankaraiah's Ashram and recognizes him as her husband who sharp practiced and absconded from the Indian Army. Frightened Shankaraiah kills her as she may reveal his identity. Being cognizant of the tragedy, Chakradhar stands strong, also inspires the remaining, and triumphs the victory when he is honored with Maha Veera Chakra for his bravery. In his post-return, Chakradhar learns about Jayanti's love affair with a guy Murali and moves with the marriage proposal. Then, his father Kondala Rao stipulates Chakradhar marry his insane daughter Jyothi and he does so by sacrificing his love. Consequently, Chakradhar witnesses treacherous and unjust events in the country. An industrialist, Rajanala arsons an empty warehouse by hiding grains, and a drunkard, Bheema Raju crashes several innocents in an accident. Twice, Chakradhar files up the case in which Shankaraiah acquits the criminals by bribing the officials and forecasting fake alibies. Chakradhar cannot endure iniquity and revolts for which he is sentenced. Moreover, Jayanti is molested and Murali is killed by Prasad the son of Shankaraiah’s acolyte Bhanoji Rao. Right now, Chakradhar explodes, aims to knock down the barbaric, and turns into a rebel Bobbili Puli. He starts his hunt which creates turbulence in the country. Thus, the government appoints a special officer Gopinath to lay hold of him. Gopinath appeals to him to surrender with an assurance to provide justice but Chakradhar states that no one can stop him until the completion of his mission. During that diehard, Prasad slaughters Jyothi to unveil Chakradhar. Thereby, Chakradhar slays him out, and outbursts on Bhanoji Rao, when he uncovers the real snake as Shankaraiah who is supposed to be his father, and the homicide of his mother. Therefore, he wipes him too and surrenders to Police. In the court, Chakradhar uproars the present constitution, judiciary, law & order and pleads to reform them. Finally, the movie ends with the judicial declaring Chakradhar guilty and destined for the death penalty.

Reception
The film had 2 direct 175-day runs, 15 direct 100-day centers and 39 100-days centers including shift, movie collected around 72 Lakhs gross collections in its first week and in full run around 3.5 crores gross.[2][3] The film also reportedly served as a political tool for NTR, who had started his campaign to become chief minister, and has been attributed as a factor for his victory.[3]
In a 2020 review, Roktim Rajpal of the Deccan Herald praised the film's music, acting and screenplay.[4]
