Chinna Poove Mella Pesu (Template:Lang-en) is a 1987 Tamil language drama film directed by the duo Robert – Rajasekhar. The film features Prabhu, Ramki, Narmadha, Sudha Chandran and Sabitha Anand in lead roles. The film, produced by S. K. Rajagopal, had musical score by S. A. Rajkumar and was released on 17 April 1987. The film became highly successful at the box office. The film also marked the debut of actor Ramki and music director S. A. Rajkumar.[1][2][3]
Plot
Raja (Ramki), a clever student, challenges Rekha (Narmadha), a rich and arrogant girl, to become the number one student. She loses her challenge but she falls in love with Raja. Rekha is the daughter of Michael (Senthamarai).
David (Prabhu), a former student, is now an alcoholic. During his college days, he fell in love with Esther (Sabitha Anand) but Shanthi was in love with David. Michael, Esther's father, was against their love so he beat David to death and Esther then committed suicide. Later, David survived. David decides to help the young lovers and to fight against the heartless Michael.

Production
Though Robert-Rajasekaran wanted newcomers for the film, they yielded to the producer's wish to cast an established actor. R. Sarathkumar originally had a role, but was replaced by Prabhu.[4]
Soundtrack
The film score and the soundtrack were composed by film composer S. A. Rajkumar. The soundtrack, released in 1987, features 9 tracks with lyrics written by S. A. Rajkumar.[5][6][7]

Reception
On 1 May 1987, V. Krishnaswamy of The Indian Express said, "Chinna Poove Mella Pesu is one of the best releases of the season. It does have some contrived sequences, but they are contrived well, and firmly establish Robert-Rajasekar as technicians of calibre."[8]
