Dattadevi of the Gupta emperor Samudragupta.[1][2] She was the mother of Samudragupta's successor, Chandragupta II,[3] She was most probably married to Samudragupta during his educational career.[4] Harisena, Samudragupta's court poet and close friend, played an important roleTemplate:Clarify in the marriage of Samudragupta to Dattadevi.[5] She is described as a "virtous and faithful wife" in an Eran inscription.[6]
