English: Image Brigadier Michael Joseph Aloysius Sheehan CBE, (1899–1975), was born in Skibbereen, Co. Cork Ireland as third of three sons of Captain D. D. Sheehan MP for Mid-Cork, Ireland, who served with him on the Western Front during World War I.
In the course of his WWI and WWII military career Michael Sheehan was awarded nine Campaign Medals

At the outbreak of World War I he left St. Finbarr's College, Farranferris, Cork to enlist in the 7th Battalion, Prince of Wales's Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians) on 20 April 1915. He was was commissioned 25 September 1915 to the 3rd (Special Reserve) battalion Royal Munster Fusiliers as a temporary second lieutenant and aged 16, was the youngest commissioned officer on the Western Front. He was promoted temporary lieutenant on 1 July 1917, and was wounded twice. His two elder brothers, Daniel and Martin Sheehan, were killed in the war.

After the war he embarked 18 September 1919 for India on attachment to the British Indian Army and a short time later his attachment was confirmed with a regular Indian army commission. He was promoted captain on 20 October 1920. ^[1] He married Lilian Taylor in 1925 and was father of three children, Barbara (aka Ms. Guido Bischofberger), Christopher and Patricia (aka Ms. Frank Johnson).

In September 1939 he held to rank of Major as part of the Royal Indian Army Service Corps. By the summer of 1942 he held the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel with the appointment on the staff of the 23rd Indian Division of Commander Royal Indian Army Service Corps. It was his actions during this time that led to his appointment an "Officer of the Order of the British Empire" (OBE)

During the third Burma Campaign 1944-45 held the rank of temporary Colonel and the appointment of Director of Supplies and Transport of the staff of 4th Corps under Lieutenant-General Sir Frank Messervy during the corps successful central front thrust.

In January 1946 he was advanced to "Commander of the Order of the British Empire" (CBE) i 1946, in recognition of his distinguished services during February to May 1945 in Burma.

He was promoted Colonel in 1947 retired in 1948 as an honourary Brigadier.
