English: Still on the sidelines of the Trichur Pooram, on a side lane is this large Ashok Leyland fire truck kept on standby just in case. And just behind that is an ambulance. There are several chances of mishaps during the parade from elephants that my go berserk, a stampede, fire from the many naked flame torches or during the fireworks that follow, people collapsing due to exhaustion-- there are a number of possibilities. Fortunately nothing happened that night and everyone around enjoyed the festivities. (Trichur/ Thrissur, Kerala, India) |
