English: Map showing the territory of Diu, part of Portuguese India (Estado da India). The territory of Diu was made of Diu Island and the mainland village of Gogolá. Diu also controlled Forte Santo Antonio de Simbor (Forte Simbor, Forte Pani Kota) about 25 km east of Diu in the Bay of Simbor. That little-known fort remained in Portuguese hands from its construction in 1722 until India seized Goa and the other Portuguese settlements in 1961.
