Gannavaram mandal is one of the 25 mandals in Krishna district of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is under the administration of Gudivada revenue division and the mandal headquarters are located at Gannavaram.[1][2] The mandal is bounded by Agiripalli, Bapulapadu, Unguturu, Vijayawada Rural and Kankipadu mandals.[3] The mandal is also a part of the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region under the jurisdiction of Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority.[4]
History
Krishna district was formed by renaming Machilipatnam district and adding certain taluks of Guntur district in 1859. Krishna district was divided into Krishna and Godavari districts in 1925. During the reorganisation of Andhra Pradesh Krishna district was further divided into Krishna and NTR districts. [5]
Krishna district has 25 mandals spread across three revenue divisions – Machilipatnam revenue division, Gudivada revenue division and Vuyyuru revenue division. [6]
Demographics

The total population constitute, 43,172 males and 43,855 females —a sex ratio of 1016 females per 1000 males. 8,098 children are in the age group of 0–6 years, of which 4,147 are boys and 3,951 are girls. The average literacy rate stands at 73.96% with 58,379 literates.[7]
