Kannada Brahmins are Kannada-speaking Brahmins, primarily living in Karnataka, although a few of them have settled in other states like, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Tamil Nadu.Template:Sfn[1]
Classification
Kannada Brahmins fall under the Pancha Dravida Brahmin classification of the Brahmin community in India.[2]
The main sections among Kannada Brahmins are Havyaka Brahmins, Deshastha Brahmins,Template:Sfn Koteshwara Brahmins, Badaganadu Brahmins, Babburkammes, Hebbar Iyengar, Hoysala Karnataka Brahmins, Kota Brahmins, Sthanika Brahmins. and Shivalli Brahmins.[3] They are divided on the basis of Vedic traditions that they follow such as Smartha, Madhva, and Sri Vaishnava.[4][5]
