Khalid Saifi (Template:Langx) is a human rights activist and co-founder of United Against Hate.[1] He actively participated in the protests against the NRC and CAA.[2] Currently, Khalid Saifi is a political prisoner, having been in jail since the 2020 Delhi riots.[3]

Early life and education

Khalid Saifi was born on February 3, 1981, at his ancestral home in Khureji Khas, Delhi. His father is Abdul Latif and his mother is Fatima. His father is originally from Moradabad (Uttar Pradesh) but settled in Delhi. His father ran a furniture business.[4]

After completing his early education, Khalid Saifi completed his bachelor's degree from Symbiosis College, Pune.[5]

He later earned a master's degree in business administration (MBA) from the same institution.[1]

UAH was founded in 2017 by human rights activists Khalid Saifi and Umar Khalid in response to the 2017 Junaid mob lynching incident and with the aim of coherently fighting against the growing hatred against minority communities.[6]

Upon its inception, UAH began documenting hate crimes across the country, providing legal and financial assistance to victims' families, and conducting public awareness campaigns.[7][8]

Over time, people whose relatives had been victims of hate crimes or caste/religion-based persecution also became part of the campaign.[9][10] Khalid Saifi’s UAH has carried out notable work in many places so far.[11] The organization provides substantial assistance in cases related to hate crimes, ranging from filing police complaints to supporting legal action. It has also helped in preventing communal clashes in Dausa, Rajasthan.[12]
